  April 5 - 9, 2008
(5 days/4 nights)

Tour Itinerary and Inclusions

Day 1, April 5, 2008   Saturday
This morning we depart Grand Rapids at 7:00 for a day of travel to Broadway! We will arrive at our hotel in New Jersey late in the evening – just in time to rest up for our first big day in the “Big Apple.” (Dinner)

Day 2, April 6, 2008   Sunday
Our first day in New York City! First stop, Camp Broadway, where we’ll be introduced to the world of Broadway and all aspects of putting on a show. After lunch on our own we see our first Broadway performance – In the Heights. Set in Washington Heights, this award-winning musical is about a tight-knit community with the rhythm of three generations of music. With its universal themes of family, community and self-discovery, we’ll soon find out what it takes to make a living, what it costs to have a dream, and what it means to be home…In The Heights.

After the show we’ll head to Rockefeller Center and the Top of the Rock Observation Deck. The Sky Shuttle elevators take us to the observation deck in a New York minute, that’s 50 seconds! Rain or shine, we’re sure to have stunning views of NYC. And then it’s over to MARS 2112, a space-themed restaurant for food, fun and Martians.  (Breakfast and Dinner)

Day 3, April 7, 2008   Monday
This morning we board a ferry at Liberty Park that will take us around The Statue of Liberty and over to Ellis Island. After lunch at a New York deli, we’ll take a tour and see the wonders of NYC. In the evening, we’ll see the Altar Boyz, a sweetly satirical show about a Christian pop group made up of five potential Teen People cover boys. Altar Boyz has catchy melodies and freaky moves. The message is the power of love, friendship, acceptance, and great hair products! With no offense to anyone or any religion, this show is a smashing success.

Did someone say Fantasy Camp? That’s right, before the show we’re attending the Altar Boyz Theater Fantasy Camp where we’ll go behind the scenes with a backstage tour and meet up with cast and crewmembers. We’re also going to learn the original show choreography in a Dance Workshop and perform it right on the Altar Boyz stage. And, if that’s not enough, one of the Altar Boyz will “break bread” with us at dinner before the show! (Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner)

Day 4, April 8, 2008   Tuesday
Our first stop this morning is at Madame Tussauds Wax Museum where we have a chance to rub elbows with celebrities and political figures and even sit at the president’s desk in the Oval Office. Then we’re off for free time, lunch on our own, and a couple hours of serious NYC shopping.  This afternoon we head for home with an overnight stay. Don’t forget to bring your bathing suit. (Breakfast and Dinner)

Day 5, April 9, 2008   Wednesday

Today we continue our trip back to Grand Rapids – happy, slightly tired, but filled with wonderful memories and dreams of future Broadway experiences. (Breakfast)

This tour is via deluxe motorcoach and is chaperoned by educators and Countryside Staff
